Welcome to the #NoBullshit zone – the stories I help build aren’t fables, or myths. They’re documentaries about the impact of yesterday, the possibilities of today, with visions of better for tomorrow.
Your content – the public messaging your facility, practice, or institution puts out to the general public it serves – is how your community can connect with you. Or not. Are you telling them a story that includes them – their goals for their family’s health, the needs of their community (not just healthcare, either), are you talking social contract … or your own fairy tale?

Just having a “patient engagement plan” put in place by your marketing team ain’t enough, kids. You need to reach out to that community – you know, the people you call “patients” – to find out what they need, what they expect, what they think of what you do. Your practice, facility, academic center might be the best thing since sliced bread … or seen, by the community you serve, as someplace where their needs aren’t recognized, or valued.
If you want to really connect with the people you serve, put out messaging that invites regular community feedback through full participation in health services design, public health, social determinants of health issues – you’ll only know if you ask. And once you ask, keep asking.
I can help you build the ask, and the framework for a virtuous cycle of continuing to ask. Working to determine the values, priorities, and needs of your community is how you build a healthy community.
Here’s what I can help you put together for your messaging arsenal:
Podcasts
Anything from quick audio takes to deep dives with expert voices (with a transcript, always, ’cause accessibility is key)
Videos
Could be as simple as your latest pitch deck with a voiceover, or documentary-style coverage of a current project (with captioning, since … accessibility)
Blogging
Be your own magazine with blogging; who are your subject matter experts? Who in the community you serve has a story to tell about what you’ve delivered in that community? Adding audio versions checks that accessibility box, too.
Presentation development
One of my core services for org leaders and project teams. If your team is talking about what you do at anything from annual research meetings to community events, I can help you build a presentation with punch. And build a Story Bank while we’re at it.
